Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones (2014) tells the  horror story of a mexican american neighborhood in  in found footage format in wich lives Jesse (Andrew Jacobs) and his best friends Marisol (Gabrielle Walsh), and Hector (Jorge Diaz). The stories told by the neighbors say that near their floor lives a "Bruja" (witch) and it is common to hear moans and strange terrorific sounds. The interesting part of the plot stars when Jesse and Hector decide to disturb the so called "Bruja" as part of their fun games with the new camera that Jesse bought with the money recieved as graduation present from his father. Unfortunately the Old lady discover them and scream to them in spanish that they will suffer for their insolence. FUNKY FACTS The fifth paranormal activity of the series has been categorized as a spin off  in which we can only find out why until we watch it from start to end. It is better than the fourth one and it has more production and better a

Blue Jasmine (2013)

Image
Blue Jasmine (2013) is the newest film written and directed by Woody Allen. This movie it is starred by Cate Blanchett with the participation of Alec Baldwin and Sally Hawkis. In this movie Woody Allen tells the story of Jasmine, a misfortunate divorced woman that is now in bankrupt. After being a wealthy woman the only choice Jasmine (Cate Blanchett) has is to live with her adoptive sister Ginger (Sally Hawkins). Althought it sounds very simple as all the Woody Allen films sound; in it's narravite is where we can find the spectacular achievements of this film. So basically you have to watch it to notice the outer space cooliness of this movie WHATS COOL ABOUT IT?  Like if you view two different stories, we have the story of Jasmine the wealthy woman and we can go trough the two hours lenght film trying to find out what made her to be a misfortunate woman.  In the other side we have Jasmine the misfortunate woman with her hysterics and her attempts to cope So th

Melancholia (2011)

Image
Directed by Lars von Trier and Starred by Kirsten Dunst. Melancholia (2011) tells the story of a wedding placed in a high society that unfortunately takes place almost at the same time of the world's end. The column in the movie is how the wedding trascends into the social relationship of the characters and two sisters and how usually people tend to think that the universe spins around them.  Making of World's end into a subjective and phisical ironical event. At the end Is not about the plot; which is very simple, is what it happens in the center of it. Prove that the movie is very well directed, written and produced. The captain recommend it to watch it on Blu-Ray ;) What's cool? The dialogues are natural and combined with the steady cam style it makes you to feel as a witness of real events Lars von Trier it's a very visual director. The main parts of the movie are explained visually while the dialogues only follow as a complement. In other words dia

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012)

Image
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012) it is an action horror movie. Based on the fantasy novel with the same name written by Seth Grahame-Smith author of Pride and Prejudice zombie. This movie is directed by the super slow motion exploiter Timur Bekmambetov and produced by Tim Burton which it seems that he didn't have much to do in the movie than giving out some money so, if you hate him don't worry about it or, if you love him this is not one of his movies (sorry guys aaw). This movie is completely underrated, the character and the movie is not pretentious as almost people seems to think. Action packed and excelent effects, what it looks like CGI is not, actually are super slow motion effects and tricks in some cases. Classy "heroe destroying monsters plot" but the writters knew about this so the peace of the story fastforwards to feature what everyone should concern about the vampire hunting and the historical facts combined with fantasy which is the pa

Spring Breakers (2013)

Image
Spring Breakers (2013) it is a drama film written and directed by Harmony Korine and starred by James Franco, Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Asley Benson, and Rachel Korine. This film is about four sexy girl friends that decide to go on a spring break trip, everything is lust, drugs sex, and fun until they meet Alien (James Franco)and he teaches them what's fun for him. WHATS GROOVY? It is visually perfect, it makes you feel like you are in a dope trip with slow motions on exact peace and its neon colors. Combine that with all the "spring break party" experience sorrounded by beach, sand, and sexy bodies. FUNKY FACTS The plot is very simplistic, I guess Spring Breakers (2013) achieves with its goal to give a summer time experience with hot chicks and some action with fun. I would recommend this movie for rental. Just to end with that horny mind willing to watch those girls. In captain's personal opinion, I like it but not love it. 3 out of 5 FUNKY

Les Infidéles (2012)

Image
French movie with translated title as "the Players" with the participation of more than six directors and five screenwriters. Staring by the oscar winning actor Jean Dujardin and Gilles Lellouche. This film is presented as a series of short films talking about...Guess what? Yeah! you got it right What is proposed by this european movie and the way it is presented is clever and brilliant. The summarazing of the short films literally feel like a rollercoaster whith its' ups and downs. In their majority the short films were made as different types of comedies; situational, slapstick, etc., but, there's always a but. The show comes at its' biggest when specifically two or three of the short films start as a friendly situation abruptly transformed in an intense drama as it should with this topic. Les Infidèles at the end will make you to consider twice before starting an affair or at least, if it is late but not too late, will prevent you for calling again

Holy Motors (2012)

Image
Holy motors is a french spoken movie, is defined as Fantasy Drama, written and directed by Leox Carax. Starring Denis Lavant. With special appearences of Eva Mendes and Kylie Minogue In Holy motors we see different scenes with our starring character, who seems very busy with his business. The movie drives us through the story on a limousine, being expectators of "Le Demour"s important booked dates on a strict schedule. Each of this dates are different one another giving us the feeling that we are watching a vignettes based movie but with only one plot. As the movie goes on we discover the plot. Definitely, in this movie nothing is like it looks like. This 65th Cannes Festival film, overtake it's originallity with so well done scenes that makes you think "I don't know what's happening, but this is so cool". Although, Holy motors is not perfect. Its innovation and design of the plot gets your mind trying to figure out answers (another good aspect

Evil Dead (2013)

Image
The Evil dead movie is not a “remake” is more like a “reebot” an easier way to explain it is what they did with Rocky the last one was called Rocky balboa but it doesnt mean is the first one or a remake the same happens with Tron legacy is a new version but also it is a sequel. So I would just called a new version, becuase would be to adventorous to call it a sequel FUNKY FACTS (things to carefully check if you are a fan) : -original soundtracking (re-recorded) -the no CGI experience (the same as in the original) -No having idea of who’s the heroe (all the movie you can see little strokes of who can be our new hero but at the end even god doesn’t know) -The post-credits thing (that already everyone has spoiled it) In resume it is an excellent new classic in horror movies with twists in the plot, gory hard to watch action and reminding us what horror movies are all about. Fun, blood and scares OUTER SPACE COOLNESS 4 OF 5 FUNKY STARS ENJOY THE TRAILER!
